COSPLAY 2025: ROSALINA AURORA DRESS

It's been several years since I last worked on a cosplay and I really have been missing the process. One of the hardest parts of making a cosplay from start to finish is actually choosing what to make however. I was lucky enough to have picked up the Switch 2 along with Mario Kart World, and in the spirit of that I have decided to recreate Rosalina's aurora dress from the game. This one will farily tricky especially due to the fact that I suck as sewing, but I'm gonna give it a try nontheless. I will use this page to document the process and share my work with the world!

PART 1: PLANNING

For the dress, my plan is to find a sewing pattern that resembles the aurora dress, use that to make a test dress using cheap fabric, alter the test dress (add ruffles, cut out unecesary pieces, etc.) and use this dress to revise the pattern and sew the final dress. I will dye the fabric either before or after sewing, depending on what method I use to create the aurora patterns. my hope is to finish the dress before August 20th, then use the rest of my time to focus on accesories.
