Summer break is over. I certainly didn’t accomplish all I wanted to get done but it was still an overall pleasant Summer. A couple of weeks ago I was able to experience what I consider to be an ideal Summer day and I would like to share it here before school begins and I have no time.
My sister and I woke up fairly early and headed to a nearby amusement park. We have been going ever since we were little and it has a special place in my heart as a favorite Summer activity. It was nice and overcast too which was a plus.
Walking to the park. It was unfortunately very busy.
Inside the park
Such a beautiful cloudy day!
Whoever does the landscaping here deserves a raise, the flowers are gorgeous!
First ride: Tilt-a-Whirl. Most people I know don’t enjoy this one but it’s a classic in my mind.
Though I never really ride it, I love the artistry and antique quality of the carousel.
A ride on the skyride is a must for every trip to this park.
Look at this lovely view from the skyride.
Colossus is one of the largest coasters at the park and the line is usually pretty short. As a thrill-seeker, I try to ride this one multiple times if I can.
Didn’t ride the Tidal Wave this time but I wasn’t too sad about it. It’s really just your basic ship swinging back and forth ride.
One of my favorite parts about this park is its historical section, Pioneer Village. It’s full of old little houses that give off a creepy vibe but I love it! It’s nice to walk around when you need a break from the rides.
Here is the newest section of the park, the District. It’s located in pioneer park and honestly the rides are nothing special.
There are so many green spaces in this park. Also if you look close enough you can see peacocks!
One of the aforementioned peacocks with her sweet little chicks!
Can’t wait for this! Frightmares is their annual Halloween event and I’ll definitely be going this year.
Here’s another pic from Pioneer Village. Very quaint!
I decided to play one carnival type game today, and that was the gem dig. It basically involves buying a bag full of sand and rocks/minerals and panning through it in a little artificial stream. As a rock collector and enthusiast, I couldn’t help myself. Here are my treasures!
Took a detour for some mozzarella sticks. 10/10 for taste, 2/10 for price.
Primordial is also a newer ride at the park. It involves riding through a fake mountain and shooting up VR creatures to get the highest score. Definitely a favorite!
Monster time!
Now this one was very spooky! There were phantoms, ghouls, and even apparitions!
There are 2 spooky rides here: Dracula’s Castle and Terror Ride. I can’t get enough of these!
I can’t explain what’s going on in this mural in the Terror Ride.
Here’s a glimpse of their Water park.
At around 4PM, we decided to leave the park and take public transportation to a nearby IHOP, which is something we would always do after heading to the amusement park as kids. It’s incredibly nostalgic.
Inside the bus.
The clouds mostly cleared up which I wasn’t super happy about cause now it was almost 100 degrees F at this point.
Walking to the restaurant.
So much concrete and asphalt!
IHOP, in all its glory.
Breakfast for dinner!
After dinner, we decided to walk to a nearby Target to kill some time. This was also nostalgic for me as I have a distinct memory of picking out LPS from this specific Target around 15 years ago.
In the spirit of nostalgia, I decided to pick up some more LPS as a little souvenir of sorts.
Here are the 2 LPS I got. 2 more to add to my forever growing collection!
