Fall Festivities 2026

Date: 10-1-26

There’s a slight chill in the air, the leaves are turning vibrant reds and yellows, and Autumn is upon us! Fall is hands down my favorite season and it’s the time of year I celebrate most thoroughly. In light of the Fall equinox occurring about a week ago, I thought it would be fitting to recount some of the recent autumn-themed activities I’ve been up to over the past weekend.

The first activity I partook in is admittedly not explicitly a Fall-related activity, but it always occurs in September so I associate it with the start of spooky season. This was attending my local annual rock and mineral convention! If I haven’t made it clear on my site yet, I have a crow brain and love cool rocks, so this place really is a dream come true for me. While most of the vendors were there selling jewelry or incredibly expensive pieces, and the main draw of the convention for me was to look at pretty rocks, I of course had to bring home some stones to add to my collection!

Below are the rocks and minerals that I purchased. I’d say that it was a fairly successful year! I got zebra calcite, red lumerian, galena ore, and two prophecy stone sticks.

I love markets like this! It feels like I’m in a video game purchasing magical items (cool-looking trinkets in my case) for my future adventures! It also feels great to support locally-owned/small businesses. Here are some additional pictures I took at the event:

After attending the convention, I went to see the new Resident Evil movie. I wrote a very short review for my media log, but I ultimately really enjoyed it! I need to start watching more horror movies this October!

The day after stocking up on stones, I attended my second fall event: a witch festival!! I have been attending this festival with my family for as long as I can remember, so it’s definitely something I cherish doing. The festivities themselves take place within a little historic village built around a centuries-old mill. It looks like it's straight out of Over The Garden Wall and I love it!

There’s a small petting zoo near the entrance of the old village, so I of course had to pet some critters! It was mainly just farm animals including chickens, donkeys, goats, horses, rabbits, and a mini cow, but they also had emus which was fun to see. They were all very sweet, especially the goat!

After saying hi to the creatures, we entered the village and got some dinner at a little cafe. I got a turkey sandwich with some chips and a pickle. It was good but just very expensive!

We then walked around and did some shopping. I absolutely love all the little stores they have! They’re mostly hobby shops and boutiques, and some of my favorites were a miniature train store, a fabric store, a crystal store, and a candy store. I almost got some cross-stitching patterns at the fabric store but I chickened out. I’m honestly thinking I might go back and pick some up, mainly to spice up my current wardrobe, but that’s a future-me decision. Their patterns were really cool and intricate, I’ll try to include a photo of one of them below.

I ended up purchasing a couple things, several of which were more minerals at the crystal shop (I need to stop buying rocks but they’re just so pretty!). I also bought a couple vintage-looking postcards from a boutique, as well as some Halloween-themed dog treats for my precious son. I finally bought some sweets at the candy store! I’ll include pictures below. The minerals are prehnite, amethyst, celestite, and blue chalcedony.

I took quite a bit of pictures of the decor while in the village. Because the festival is advertised as a witch festival, they of course had witches everywhere. In fact, that’s their main attraction; all the witchy decor. I by no means took pictures of every single witch and piece of decor, but I’ll include some of my favorites:

And that’s about it for this post. I need to find a more eloquent way to end these but I don’t want to have to worry about perfecting my writing; these are more just a way to archive some of my memories and experiences so it makes sense to me that they’re more stream-of-consciousness-esk. I hope you enjoy reading about my little adventures and feel free to stay tuned for more!
