ASK THAT GOD DELUXE EDITION (2025)
ARTIST: EMPIRE OF THE SUN
GENRE: DANCEPOP, INDIETRONICA
FAVORITE TRACK: HAPPY LIKE YOU
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: FRIENDS I KNOW
Empire of the Sun was the first band I ever saw in concert so I may be biased when I say they have some of the most unique and artistically-innovative sounding songs. They're the type of band that can be easily identified through their work and this album does not deviate from that fact. Almost every song in this album has a mystical, warm, Summery vibe that you just can't help but groove to. The lead singer Luke Steele has such a distinct, almost otherworldly voice that shines in tracks like 'Wild World' and 'Happy Like You.' The only track I'm not a fan of is 'Friends I Know'; it just has such a different sound from all of the other tracks and not in a good way. It's too slow and honestly kinda boring. Other than that though I love this album! In terms of the album art, it's not spectacular but does encompase the etherial feeling that many of the tracks evoke.
